Daily Idiom
Study one idiom that Koreans use every day!
“Aegyo” means behaving in a deliberately cute, charming, or playful way to show affection or make someone smile.
It can involve changing your voice, making cute facial expressions, using playful gestures, or speaking in an intentionally adorable way.
You often see exaggerated aegyo in K-pop or Korean variety shows, but everyday aegyo can be much more subtle.
For example, someone might playfully stretch the ending of a sentence when asking their partner for a favor:
“해줘~~”
“Pleeease do it for me~”
That can be a form of aegyo.
It’s important to understand that aegyo isn’t simply “acting childish.” In Korean culture, it can be a playful way of expressing closeness and affection.
👉 Aegyo = cuteness + playfulness + affection
